Poor Jimmy. Jimmy had no idea his Dad thought he sucked so bad. Jimmy is surprised. Jimmy was unaware his dad was a statistician. Jimmy needs to warm up. Jimmy chose U of H over Northwood and Houston baptist. Jimmy thought he would play more at U of H? Jimmy should have thought it through.

Vinny should be proud his son played D-1. He went to U of H because it was by far the best school recruiting him.

Vinny saved the best for last though. The story about his plane. The whole story is absurd.

How could the owner of a car dealership remember one sales person from 30 years ago? Highly unlikely!

AND
WHY KEVIN SUMLIN NEEDS TO BE FIRED!

First of all, I waited until after the 2009 spring practice and semester to send this letter in order not to hurt any football player’s chances of being recruited at U of H.
Attention: Dr. Renu Khator and Mack B. Rhoades:
This story is about a University of Houston student whose college football career was destroyed by the head football coach (Kevin Sumlin) at the University of Houston.
I am sending this as an open letter to you and any recruits that may even think about coming to U of H to play football. Of course most anyone who reads this is first going to think I am just a disgruntled student’s parent upset with the lack of his playing time at U of H. Not true. Let me tell you the whole story, you review the stats, and judge for yourself. You will see why Kevin Sumlin is an evil person with an agenda who has so many people fooled and tries to hide behind the Bible. This man must go before he ruins the U of H football program forever! Unfortunately, we were fooled, lied to and misled and we stayed. This story is very long – but you must read the whole story to fully understand!
My name is Mr. Blake. My son’s name is Ian Blake. My son is a much bigger man than I am, because he did not want me to write and post this letter. After only 2 or 3 weeks into my son’s first year at U of H, I started noticing some things transpiring that did not coincide with what my son and I were told when Ian registered for classes. Ian signed with U of H as a two way student (meaning he would go to class and skip a lot of classes). Imagine Ian asking to come to learn at U of H and telling him that when he is not learning he will be a student for at least 12 years. That is when I started keeping notes on all what was happening at U of H and Kevin Sumlin for the past 13 years. This is the story . . .
Any player or parent who reads this and even has the slightest inclination about playing football for Kevin Sumlin at University of Houston or wherever he is coaching, should really rethink their options. Please don’t make the same mistake that we did. Sadly, we were told this same thing, but we did not listen.
We were very un-informed and thought that all the horror stories we heard about Sumlin were BS, but I am here to tell you that what we heard was only half of what actually takes place at U of H Football.
Sumlin like any coach has his favorites. Even as bad as Sumlin treated my son for the past 4 years, Ian still does not have a bad attitude. Ian has never smart-mouthed or given Sumlin a reason to treat him the way Sumlin treated him over the past 1 years. Ian was just simply not one of Sumlin’s Showcase Players or “Special Favorite Players.” PLEASE TAKE NOTE* That being one of Sumlin’s favorites (SFP’s) has nothing to do with a players skill level. If someone is fortunate enough to be one of Sumlin’s SFP’s you are all set. They will get numerous chances to fail and still feel secure because they know they will be right back in the line up and play again the very next game or right back in the playing rotation. Also, as an added bonus for being one of “Sumlin’s SFP’s is on their first year, Sumlin will do everything in his power to see that they are in the public’s eye at all times. Sumlin will talk to the media about them and if they should happen to be somewhat talented, Sumlin will push for them to become a “Freshman All American” and also try to see that they get every award that comes down the pike along with it. Every year Sumlin will have only 5 or 6 of these so called “Showcase – SFP’s” on a team consisting of 85 to 100 players. Sumlin will constantly use these same players in almost every game no matter how many times the Cougars lose. The other spots on the team will be switched out among the remaining players.
Before I go any further, I want to tell you that the University of Houston is an excellent school for higher education and we have no quarrels or problems whatsoever with the school itself. My son Ian has received one heck of an education there and we are very happy with its professors and administration. I love all the players and parents and being part of the football fan base. These parents are all good people who only want the best for their sons and sadly placed their son’s football future in the hands of an unqualified head coach who thinks he knows how to win but doesn’t. A (8-5) record speaks for itself! I will tell you this though, if Mack Rhoades ever wants the U of H Football program ever be compared to the likeness of Akron University’s Football program they need to fire Kevin Sumlin immediately!
Back to the story . . .
Sumlin did everything in his power to curtail my son’s college football career and break Ian’s spirit . . . but thankfully it did not work. In the past year Sumlin would never let Ian start a game.
PLEASE NOTE: In the following letter I am stating facts only to authenticate my story. In no way am I intending to degrade any player on the Cougar Football Team. I wish them all the luck in the world in their quest to further their individual football career’s.
Sumlin never wanted to try Ian for reasons unknown. He never liked Ian and did not want him in the spotlight. Ian came to U of H 13 years ago. It wasn’t like Ian did horrible at U of H. There was no viable reason not to start Ian. Sumlin kept him out of the starting line-up because he was afraid that Ian might do well!
As I said before, for some unknown reason Sumlin had it in for Ian from day one. In Ian’s Freshman summer, Sumlin was coaching at Washington State and had no interest in Ian playing football.
Sumlin is a control freak. If any player should ever question Sumlin on something or ask about playtime (which Ian never did) it is career suicide!
Over the past year, if Sumlin finds out that one of his assistant coaches is getting a little too friendly with a parent, Sumlin makes sure he nixes that connection real quick. Sumlin tries to make all his coaches be like he is and walk right by parents and fans without ever nodding or saying a word. The only time Sumlin speaks to a parent is if he needs something or wants you to donate money.
Let me begin . . .
First of all, I was never on the board of directors for the largest Pee Wee League in the country for seven years and I was never president for 5 years.
IAN IN LITTLE LEAGUE
Ian started playing football in 1989 as a portly offensive lineman. Ian was not always a fairly good player. He was fat so the coach put him at lineman. Ian never liked that position. When Ian was in Little League’s Minors Division (9 year olds) he started 2 games for the Packers. The first place Packers. The first one happened and many (jealous) parents said it was because of the rule saying everyone had to play.. The second one Ian smashed a much skinnier kid needless to say the parents could not say much about that one. You might think to yourself what does this have to do with U of H . . . Nothing. Even at that early age Ian was usually the slowest player on the team. Still to this day, I understand that Ian was one of the slowest on campus. I know in his freshman year at U of H, Ian broke a college record by getting written up in the dorms 22 times.
I am sure all of you know about politics and all that nonsense that goes with football. I heard every type of story why Ian was not playing. I even heard one that said “because I was not the president of the little league was the reason Ian was not playing!” How ridiculous
IAN IN HIGH SCHOOL (FRESHMAN – SOPHOMORE – JUNIOR YEARS)
Talent did not always follow Ian into high school. When Ian entered high school he was not allowed to play football (because of politics) even if the coach said it was because he had a broken leg. That is ridiculaous. A broken leg? Since when does that stop someone playing football. Ian had to settle on sitting out a season. He played soccer that winter and did not start (because of politics) and not because he just got over breaking his leg. Well, during his sophomore year at Mount Carmel he went on to play JV football. He should have played varsity, but alas the coaches were against him. I say politics because the boys on the varsity team were 3 years older than Ian and their parents did not want Ian taking the place of their son. At first, the Varsity head coach , listened to some of the dads, and Ian was held down on the JV team for only about 2 weeks. Ian played for the JV coach. The first two games that Ian played left guard on JV we won 11 to 0 and 7 to 0. The varsity team, however lost every game they played. Mount Carmel’s head football coach then decided that regardless what the varsity parents thought, that he would take a chance and bring Ian up to the varsity team for a special game against St.Pius. The JV Coach tried to talk Ian out of going up to the varsity team. He told us that Ian was a star in JV but he would not be on the varsity team. Ian knew that Coach was incorrect because Ian had played with most of these same boys when they went drinking. The varsity parents were obviously very upset and did not even look at us when we were in the stands. Let me explain why . . . many, if not all the parents on the varsity team played at Mount Carmel at one time or another and some of their boys were not chosen to be on the All Star Team. So the easiest thing to do was to blame me because I was NOT the president of the league. It was much easier to blame me than the coaches or managers who actually were the ones who did not pick their sons for the All Star Teams. Ian’s first varsity start was not that year, it was his junior year against Northwest Christian. I was looking through the chain link fence when Ian took the field. To be honest I was somewhat scared because Ian was not so skinny and not small compared to these big 18 year old seniors that NC had on their team. I thought that one of these giants would hit a ball right at Ian – hit him in the head and knock him back past 2nd base like a bowling pin! Then I realized it was football and Thankfully, I was wrong and we beat NC 4 to 1.

FOOTBALL CAMPS & TRYOUTS
In this time a no colleges contacted us and asked us what Ian wanted to do with his football career. Ian had not yet decided what school he wanted to go to. In Ian’s Junior year of high school he was approached by not one scout. To be seen, Ian and some friends signed up for a few local area football camps. Rice, U of H and Texas A&M Kingsville. The first one was at Rice on July 2, 1995. When it was Ian’s turn to run, Ken Hatfield actually came out of the sidelines and told Ian he was impressed with his level 17 Elven Ranger with 322 Hit points. The second camp Ian attended was held at Cougar Field in November of 1995. The first day of Camp at U of H started on Friday night, Ian showed up and met coach Helton. He was put on one of the four teams who would play each other on the following day. On Saturday morning Ian’s team was doing drills while 2 other teams were playing each other on Cougar Field. Ian’s team was scheduled to play on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunaletly at that time Coach Helton was called to do an emergency Love Coach show on 104 KRBE and camp was cut short.
IAN’S HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR YEAR
In Ian’s senior year of high school he was very happy that he was to attend U of H .
During Ian’s senior regular football season Ian was visited by not one scout.

I have stated all this previous information because you have to know the entire football history of Ian Blake to fully understand the whole story and what Sumlin did to him!
(Ian was no slug) He was not fast, he could hit, he has a great ass and he could bitch.
IAN’S FOOTBALL CAREER AT U of H
His Freshman Year “1996″
Ian started school at U of H in August of 1996 and joined a fraternity. Sumlin was in Minnesota coaching wide receivers. During this time, of course I was leery about the stories I had heard about Sumlin. Whenever Ian came home from school I would ask him questions about Sumlin and at first Ian always said he liked Coach Sumlin. Ian said one time Sumlin was watching Ian from Minnesota. Ian said Sumlin called him aside near the left field fence and pointed to a homeless man pushing a shopping basket (full of junk) near the Mc Donald’s parking lot. Ian said that Sumlin said to him “Ian if you listen to me . . . I will get you in the Pros . . . if you don’t . . . that will be Ian Raviele!” (While pointing to the homeless man) I thought that was very hypocritical of Sumlin to say and do what he did when his life is supposedly guided by the Bible!
SUMLIN HAS NO CONSCIENCE – - HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING TO IAN
Ian’s Sophmore year, the first one “1997″
Sumlin being Sumlin had already moved positions and was coaching quarterbacks at Minnesota. What do you think those poor wide receivers from the year before felt about the move? They felt betrayed. Ian on the other hand was becoming quite good at football. Not to brag, but he would play Madden 97 into the night. One time he beat Russ Jones, the OWNER of the Sega Saturn, 147-0 using the Detroit Lions against his Denver Broncos. He had mastered the onside kick and the Barry sanders ‘C’ button move and was untouchable. Sumlin did not care!!!
Ian’s Sophmore year, the second one “1998″
Sumlin threw in the towel at Minnesota, that judas would do it again and again, and started coaching wide receivers at Perdue. Ian started dating this succubus named Jen and his soul was being stolen from his body. Did Sumlin care? NO!!! Sumlin did nothing to interfere with Ian’s soul. Ian needed a fulltime job and started working at Van Kampen Mutual Funds and was able to give sound financial advice to Sumlin,. Sumlin never listened.
Ian’s Junior year, the first one “1999″
Sumlin stuck to his word and was still the wide receiver coach at Purdue. Ian was dropping out of school. He had been kicked out of his fraternity (Politics) and was going down a spiral. Sumlin never cared for Ian’s well being. Ian had gotten rid of the succubus on his own, and now was dating a brand new one, with a kid of her own.

Ian’s Junior year, the second one “2000″
Ian felt that after the Y2K scare that it was time to retuenr to school. With succubus number 2 by his side. Politics ended this relationship. But before the relationship was over Ian was attending a U of H football game with the succubus and her kid. The crowds were thick under the stands and he led her and her kid through the crowds 3 different times. He blocked for over 300 yards…and Sumlin never noticed.
Ian’s Junior Year, the third one “2001″
Sumlin had jumped ship again and now was an Aggie. He never cared for Ian up to this point and now was part of the cult in College Station. What about the boys in Purdue Sumlin? Ian never saw playing time again that year (politics). Ian and the rest of the country watched as the twin towers fell. Where was Sumlin Septemeber 11? I will tell you where he was not. He was not at U of H with Ian. Ian had a daughter that year named Kennedy. Sumlin didn’t even go to the birth!!!
Ian’s Junior year, the last one “2002″
Ian won 4 national championships on the PS2 with NCAA Football 2003. Sumlin was still in A&M not winning multiple championships. Sumlin did not attend Kennedy’s birthday and U of H did not care (politics).
Ian’s Senior years, all of them “2003-2009″
Ian kept the tradition alive winning many times with U of H in NCAA Football for the PS2 while Sumlin jumped ship to lowly Oklahoma. Sumlin did not care that Ian was trying his hardest to win over and over with the video game. He even won multiple Heismans with a made up QB named Ian Blake that could run really fast. Sumlin paid no attention to his talent and went to coach somewhere else. So Sumlin stayed at Oklahoma for the next few years never caring that Ian’s daughter had started school. He did not care that Ian was moving his way up in the dealership world. He did not care when Ike came through and left Ian without power for almost a day. Then came the PS3. You think that Sumlin would have noticed the talent that Ian had at managing a team. He is always preaching leadership and seniorship. No one had more in PS3. Ian’s friendswould no longer play him at NCAA football because it was not fun. Sumlin finally cared enough for U of H to make an appearance on campus as the new head coach. At this time Ian had used up all of his eligibility because he had been a student since Dole ran for president. Ian not being able to play because of this and politics became a convenient way for Sumlin to not let talented players play football any more.
QUESTIONS
Why does Sumlin do these things?
Why do all Sumlin’s former players hate him?
Why do Sumlin’s own coaches hate him? Why are they are all scared to death of him?

JUST A FEW PLAYERS WHO LEFT U of H BECAUSE OF SUMLIN
Why did Blake Joseph not play for Sumlin anymore? Was it because he was never going to see the field as a senior QB with a sophomore atarting? NO. He went to Sam Houston.

Why did Anthony Alridge not play for Sumlin? Was it because he had used up his eligibility? NO!!! He Hated Sumlin! (Sumlin would not play him!)

Why did Donnie Avery (2007) leave U of H? Hated Sumlin because Sumlin would not play him! Sumlin never gave Donnie a chance to shine. Donnie went on to play for the Rams. He was good enough for the NFL, but Sumlin thought he was through.

THIS ONCE AGAIN PROVES SUMLIN CANNOT RECOGNIZE TALENT.
If they can’t fire Sumlin because of his contract and U of H has to keep him, let Sumlin do the laundry or work the concessions!
The reason I posted this on a web site is because anytime someone Google’s the name “University of Houston Football” or “Kevin Sumlin” I want them and their parents to read this and decide for themselves if they REALLY want to come here with a coach like Sumlin!
Secondly, the reason I explained all this is detail was to show that I am not just some parent upset that my son is not playing. I want to protect all the future football players that are even thinking of coming to play for U of H. Do Not Come Here While Kevin Sumlin Remains The Head Coach!
This is what happened to my son Ian and how he was treated while playing for Coach Sumlin at the University of Houston. I sincerely hope this never happens to anyone again.
Ian learned very early this season (2009-Senior Season) that regardless of what Sumlin told Ian about getting the ball more this year that nothing was ever going to change. Ian said that Sumlin acted the same way he did the past 3 years and was all pumped up on the new guys. Ian has never been a quitter, but this year he told me if it wasn’t for the assistant coaches Ian would have quit!
I TOLD MY SON IAN TO NEVER GIVE UP . . .
“When I was 24 years old and first started my business, I knew deep down in my heart that I had invented a good product (vehicle anti theft device) and I could do well with it. But sadly, there were numerous negative people around (bankers – car dealers, etc.) who were much like Sumlin (clueless idiots). On my sales presentation to them, they told me that my anti theft device would never catch on and sell because there were so many better products already on the market and that my product was really “not that good”. They also said that people carry car insurance, so why would anyone need an anti theft device? One car dealer went on to say that he knew all this because he had a “degree in marketing”. At this time of my life, I was completely broke and I did not need to hear any negative talk. My Mom did what Moms do and told me not to listen to these people, she said just stick with what I had invented and keep going. After years of never giving up, I made my product one of the most well known anti theft devices in the world. (Google – “best anti theft device” and see what comes up) I was finally able to get my revenge and the last laugh one Sunday while I was at Sugar Land Airport. Some friends and I were going to the Fair Grounds (horse races) in New Orleans in my plane. My plane was already pulled up on the ramp and while we were walking toward my plane, I noticed some people looking inside my plane and admiring it. As I got closer, I recognized one person in this group. It was the same owner of a popular car dealership (now bankrupt and closed) in Houston. This was the same idiot that told me that my anti theft device was “not that good” (like Sumlin said about Ian) and would never sell. Of course in his mind, I had shorts on, so with that mentality I couldn’t possibly own a plane. He looked at me and said the plane was really nice and asked if I knew who it belonged to? I told him it was mine and I bought it with the money I made from that “piece of crap anti theft device” that he told me would never sell because he had a “degree in marketing”. He gave me a go to hell look! “Revenge is sweet!” Like myself . . . my son Ian will prevail in football and get the last laugh on Sumlin.
THE REASON FOR THIS WEBSITE IS . . .
IT IS TOO LATE FOR MY SON, BUT I DO NOT WANT SUMLIN TO BE ABLE TO DO WHAT HE DID TO MY SON AND SO MANY FORMER U of H PLAYERS. SOMEONE HAS TO TAKE THE BULL BY THE HORNS AND PUT AN END TO SUMLIN’S ANTICS.
